Agra is like a junction, two main train lines, Delhi to Mumbai and Delhi to Chennai pass through it. If traveling by super fast trains like Bhopal Shatabdi and Gondwana Express it takes 2 to 3 hours of time to reach Agra from Delhi. There are around 20 trains between Delhi and Agra and around 3 to 4 between Agra and Mumbai

Delhi is well connected to Agra by bus. The time taken by bus is about 4 to 5 hours. Idgah and Agra Fort are the main bus stands. Idgah is the primary bus station; it is 8 km away from the Taj. Taxies and buses are available all the time and luxury AC buses can be taken from Delhi, Jaipur, Gwalior, and Lucknow.
NH 2 Connects Delhi to Agra. It is a stretch of 200 km. The drive takes 4 to 5 hours. Jaipur is connected by NH 11, driving is of about 4 hours and distance is of about 255 km. The bird sanctuary town of Bharatpur comes in between the passage.
No cars are allowed to the Taj Mahal, one can hire electric autorickshaw or Tongas but the other parts of Agra can be explored by car. Hiring a taxi for the whole day would be a good option if you also want to go to Fatehpur Sikri or go around and do some shopping. Agra has many shops; Sadar Bazaar is the main spot for shopping.
